What is Whole Body Cryotherapy?

Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC) is the process of exposing the body to ultra-low temperatures (-200 to -250  F) in a controlled environment for a limited amount of time. The individual enters a Nitrogen-cooled cryogenic sauna or chamber for 1-3 minutes, which lowers the skin surface temperature significantly. This action stimulates receptors, activating a Central Nervous System response and causing a release of endorphins. After the session, the body immediately begins to reheat itself, increase circulation, and decrease inflammation by clearing toxins, lactic acid and metabolic waste. The new supply of oxygenated blood stimulates cellular regeneration.

If at any point you can leave the chamber or sauna you can and there will always be a technician standing by running your treatment. After completing the session, you will put the robe back on and return to the locker room to get changed.

What is Compression Therapy?

Intermittent pneumatic compression is a therapeutic technique used in the NormaTec Recovery system that include an air pump and inflatable auxiliary sleeves, gloves or boots in a system designed to improve venous circulation in the limbs of individuals who are looking to improve muscle recovery from strenuous training, postoperative recovery, decrease symptoms of lymphedema, reduce swelling and improve flexibility.

In use, an inflatable boot, jacket or sleeve encloses the limb requiring treatment, and pressure lines are connected between the jacket and the air pump. When activated, the pump fills the air chambers of the jacket in order to pressurize the tissues in the limb, thereby forcing fluids, such as blood and lymph, out of the pressurized area. A short time later, the pressure is reduced, allowing increased blood flow back into the limb.

I was nervous about trying this place out... I'm not good with cold temperatures. I hurt my back the day before during a workout and was in pain. After the treatment I couldn't feel the pain and I'm back to normal. Its better then an ice bath because you don't get wet.
